How a Molecular Hydrogen Water System Works
Water can be hydrogenated through electrolysis, the process of passing an electrical current through water to separate hydrogen gas from oxygen. The Lourdes Hydrofix uses a separate-chamber design: electrolysis happens in its own chamber, so your drinking water never directly contacts the electrodes. This matters because dissolving molecular hydrogen into water cleanly requires control over what enters your glass. The result is hydrogen-rich water with documented purity and a pH that stays within ±0.1 of your source water, not elevated pH or trace minerals like you'd get from a water ionizer. Dual Chamber Electrolysis Explained
Many hydrogen water machines run electrolysis directly in the water you drink. The Hydrofix physically separates the two, using a Japanese-made multi-layer fiber-reinforced polymer membrane and solid titanium electrodes in their own chamber. What Makes Our Water System Different

Japanese Engineering and Material Standards
The electrodes are solid titanium, 99.928% pure, mill-certified to JIS TP270C, with the platinum catalyst bonded at the molecular level through high-temperature processing. There is no plating and no coating to wear off. The membrane is a Japanese-made multi-layer fiber-reinforced polymer. The pitcher is Japanese-made and BPA- and BPHF-free. The electronic and electrode components come from ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified factories, and the machine carries UL/CSA product-safety compliance and Japan PSE certification. The device is designed for home use, not clinical applications.
Hydrogen Gas Inhalation Capability
Beyond producing hydrogenated water, the Hydrofix generates hydrogen gas you can inhale through the included inhalation lid and 2 m cannula. The product spec is 120 mL/min; Masa International Corp. independently measured 134.2 mL/min (Test No. MM03-6024-01, May 2025). This dual-function design lets you use hydrogen two ways: drinking hydrogen-rich water through the day, and a 30-minute inhalation session. Both deliver molecular hydrogen, through different routes.
Comparing Water Systems and Ionizers
A water ionizer changes pH by separating acidic and alkaline streams through electrolysis. An alkaline water machine focuses on raising pH, often adding minerals in the process. A molecular hydrogen water system focuses solely on dissolving hydrogen gas into water without altering pH or mineral content. The Hydrofix is the last kind: it is not an ionizer, and its water stays within ±0.1 pH of the source. These are different technologies with different goals. Purity Testing and Verification
Every unit is tested individually at the factory in Japan before shipping and comes with its own hydrogen concentration certificate. Separately, Japan Food Research Laboratories (JFRL), an accredited Japanese laboratory, tested the water the Hydrofix produces (Certificate No. 2302B7007001-0201, May 16, 2023): selected plasticizers (phthalates DEHP, DINP, DIDP), BPA, iron and titanium were not detected under test conditions, and the water meets Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare drinking-water quality standards. The certifications page also shows improved ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) results. Dissolved hydrogen is measured directly, not inferred from pH.

Setting Up Your Water System
The system arrives ready to use. You'll need a power outlet; the included universal AC/DC adapter handles 100–240V, 50/60 Hz. The pitcher takes tap, well, filtered, mineral, spring, alkaline, reverse osmosis or distilled water, but not saltwater or seawater. Fill the pitcher, choose water production or gas inhalation, and start the cycle. After each use, rinse the pitcher. A measuring cup and an English user's manual are in the box.
