The Best Hydrogen Water Machine: What to Look For
Most hydrogen water machines look alike on the counter. What separates them is inside: where the electrolysis happens, what the electrodes are made of, and whether anyone outside the company has tested the water. Here is how to judge any machine, and how the Lourdes Hydrofix answers each test.
- Made in Japan
- Independently lab-tested
- Unit certificate in the box
- 1-year warranty
A good hydrogen water machine should
- Make hydrogen in a chamber separate from the water you drink.
- Use solid titanium-platinum electrodes, not a thin plating.
- Have its water tested by an independent lab, with certificates you can read.
- Come with a measurement for your own unit, not just a spec sheet.
- Be simple enough that you use it every day.
What separates a good machine from a gadget
Where the electrolysis happens
Every hydrogen water machine splits water with an electric current. In a single-chamber design, the electrodes sit in the water you are about to drink, so whatever forms at the electrodes stays in your glass. In a separate-chamber design, hydrogen is made in its own chamber and then dissolved into your drinking water.
What the electrodes are made of
Electrodes wear. Low-cost machines often use a thin platinum plating over a base metal, and a plating can thin out with use. Ask what the electrodes are made of, and whether anyone has tested the water for metals after long use.
Independent testing, not just a spec sheet
Any brand can print a number on a box. What counts is whether an outside lab tested the water and the hydrogen output, and whether you can read the reports yourself.
A measurement for your machine
A batch spec tells you what a model is supposed to do. A unit certificate tells you what the machine in your kitchen did when it was tested.
Whether you will actually use it
The best machine is the one that gets used every day. Look at setup, what water it accepts, how much it makes per cycle, and what happens if something needs service.
Tablets, bottles, or a countertop machine?
Most people try one of three routes before they settle. Here is how they differ in practice.
| Tablets | Portable bottles | Lourdes Hydrofix | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How the hydrogen is made | A tablet reacts with water in your glass | A small electrolysis cell in the bottle | Separate-chamber electrolysis, dissolved into a pitcher |
| Amount per cycle | One glass per tablet | One bottle | 1.5 L pitcher |
| What you keep buying | More tablets, indefinitely | Varies by model | A replaceable cartridge |
| Independent water testing you can read | Depends on the brand | Depends on the brand | Japan Food Research Laboratories and Masa International certificates, in the box |
| Hydrogen inhalation | No | Rarely | Yes, inhalation lid and 2 m cannula included |
| Who uses it | One person at a time | One person at a time | The whole household |

What owners say
I've had other hydrogen machines, alkalizing machines, reverse osmosis machines, and none of them compare to the Lourdes Hydrofix.
I still had to do the hands-on part of it because, you know, there's a lot of hype out there on the internet, and I had to know for myself.
There is only one original, genuine hydrogen machine.
What is the best hydrogen water machine?
The one that passes the five tests above: separate-chamber electrolysis, solid electrodes, independent testing you can read, a certificate for your own unit, and a design simple enough to use daily. We sell the Lourdes Hydrofix because it meets all five, and the certificates ship with every machine.
What is the difference between separate-chamber and single-chamber electrolysis?
In a single-chamber machine the electrodes sit in the water you drink. In a separate-chamber machine, hydrogen is made in its own chamber and then dissolved into your drinking water, so the water never directly contacts the electrodes.
What water can I use?
Tap, well, filtered, mineral, spring, alkaline, reverse osmosis or distilled water. Do not use saltwater or seawater.
Can it be used for hydrogen inhalation?
Yes. The Lourdes Hydrofix includes an inhalation lid and a 2 m cannula and produces 120 mL/min of hydrogen gas.
Is it hard to set up?
No. It sits on the counter and plugs in. There is no plumbing and no under-sink install.
What warranty does it have?
The Lourdes Hydrofix Premium Edition purchased from holyhydrogen.com has a 1-year warranty. Repairs and replacement parts are available.
Where is it made?
In Japan. Each unit is tested in Japan before it ships and arrives with its own hydrogen concentration certificate.
