A husband doing his homework
Norm S. did not come to hydrogen as a biohacker or a collector of gadgets. He came to it as a husband. Several years ago he wanted to do something meaningful for his wife, and like most careful people, he started by reading.
"Saw it on the internet," he says of the first time he ran across molecular hydrogen. He does not remember exactly where.
That is the whole of his starting point, and it is worth sitting with. Norm was not chasing a trend. He was a man looking for something he could bring home to the person he cares about most, and he wanted to get it right.
Hydrogen was entirely new to him. "This was the first experience that we had with hydrogen at all," he says. No tablets first, no portable bottle as a trial run. Asked whether he had tested the waters with anything less expensive before committing, his answer is short: "This is our first shot."
Why this machine
When Norm compared his options, one machine kept rising to the top. Asked the question Holy Hydrogen puts to every customer, why this hydrogen machine over everything else out there, he does not hesitate.
"It looked like the best quality that we could find, and it's certainly met our expectations."
Pressed on what specifically pulled it ahead, he points to the build itself. "Just the engineering part of it. It sounded like it was the very best that was out there."
That instinct lines up with what makes the Lourdes Hydrofix Premium Edition different from most of the category. It is hand-built in Japan. It uses separate-chamber electrolysis, so the water you drink never sits directly on the electrodes. Those electrodes are solid titanium-platinum, not plated. Every unit is individually tested and ships with its own Certificate of Authenticity. And it produces both hydrogen water and inhalable hydrogen from a single device, which mattered for a household where one person would drink and the other would drink and inhale.
Norm did not recite those specifications in his interview. He simply said the engineering sounded like the best there was, and then he spent several years finding out whether that was true. If you want to read the details he was weighing, the science behind hydrogen water and inhalation and the independent testing and certifications behind each machine are laid out plainly.
Deciding to commit
None of this made the decision easy. Norm is candid that the cost gave him pause, and that he and his wife talked it through. What was going through his mind, he says, was "whether we could really afford it, but we decided that we could bite the bullet and do it."
What tipped the scale was not a spec sheet. It was a value the two of them share. "We just felt like your health is the most important thing," he says.
There was one more hurdle, and it is the one Norm most wants other researchers to hear about. He did not know anyone who owned one. "It's always a question, is this a gimmick? Is this gonna really make a difference?" he says. What he wishes he had back then was somebody with personal experience he could have asked. He did not have that person. "We just took an act of faith when we bought it."
Day one, and every day since
The faith was rewarded quickly. Norm remembers unboxing the machine and pouring the first glass with real warmth.
"We loved the taste, and we really were excited about the quality of the machine," he says. "It was just awesome, an awesome experience."
For a couple taking a leap on something unfamiliar, the setup could have been a stumbling block. It was not. "Very smooth," Norm says. "It was very self-explanatory."
Then the machine did what a good machine should do: it faded into the background of their lives and just kept working. "We've had it for several years now," he says. "My wife and I both use it to drink the hydrogen water." His wife also uses the inhalation side every day, sometimes twice a day. Both halves of the device get used, in the same kitchen, by the same two people.
Asked about the machine's track record over those years, Norm's verdict is one word. "It's been flawless in its performance, so the quality is absolutely there."
Sunday mornings
The clearest picture of what the Lourdes Hydrofix means in Norm's home comes from an ordinary Sunday. Norm was interviewed on one, and he described the day as it happened.
Hydrogen shows up "first thing in the morning," he says. But Sunday is also cleaning day. "On Sunday morning, we always clean our machine. We do it once a week." The two of them handle it together before they leave the house. "We poured out the existing water, cleaned the machine, and then we went to religious services and came back after it was clean." Then, "after we put it back together, for lunch, we had the first water from the machine."
It is a small ritual, and that is the point. A device that has run for years without trouble asks very little in return, and what it asks has become part of the rhythm of their week rather than a chore. Norm and his wife are practical people, and they have kept it.
Forever grateful
Norm is now the person he once wished he could have called. People ask him about the machine, and he tells them what he knows, and then he leaves it there: "It's up to them whether they want to pursue." No pressure, no pitch. Just a husband who did the research, took the leap, and is glad he did.
Would he do it again? "Yes, absolutely, we would do it again."
His closing thought carries the weight of several years of daily use and a decision made out of love. "We would just highly recommend it."
