Eighty-two years old, and the machine on the counter still runs every day
John Long is 82. He lives in a small rural area in Washington, and before that he spent years in California, where he ran a small bookkeeping and income tax service. When he left, it was for a specific reason. "I escaped California to move up to the clean air and clean water in Washington."
Clean water has been a theme for him for a long time. So has paying attention to how he feels. "I always look for ways to maybe improve my health or, I don't know, just be better, better off," he said. That habit is decades old. He has taken the same daily supplements for more than twenty years, and he describes his thinking simply: whatever might help is worth spending money on.
A Lourdes Hydrofix Premium Edition has been part of that for four, maybe five years now. He drinks the water first thing in the morning, then several more glasses through the day. "I use the water every day," he said, and he takes his vitamins with it. His dog drinks it too.
A video that made sense
John does not remember exactly where he first heard about molecular hydrogen. He thinks he was still living in California. He reads a lot online, and somewhere in that reading he came across a video about the Hydrofix, something like an infomercial. He does not recall the details anymore, but he remembers the impression it left. "The way they talked about it just made a lot of sense to me," he said, and he figured, well, sure, he would try it.
There was no dramatic reason behind the decision, no turning point. When asked what was going on in his life that made him want to act, he was plain about it. "I've always been interested in taking either supplements or things that might benefit my health," he said. Hydrogen was the next reasonable step for someone who had been taking those steps his whole adult life.
He had a model for that approach close to home. His father lived to nearly 103, ate normal food, cooked much of it himself, and never did anything special. "He was driving until he was 101 years old," John said. "I'm trying to emulate him, I guess."
What almost stopped him
Asked candidly what nearly kept him from buying, John did not hesitate. "The price, probably. It's not a cheap machine." It cost more than he had expected while watching the video, and he had been down this road before. Years earlier he had bought a distiller to take minerals and anything unwanted out of his water, and that machine had not been cheap either. He eventually set the distiller aside and turned to the Hydrofix instead.
What settled it was the way he had always thought about spending on his own wellbeing. "I didn't really have any reason not to buy it," he said. Once he had decided it was a good machine, the cost stopped being an argument. "You can't put a price on it, really. You can't put a price on your health."
There was no single moment that tipped the scale. He gathered up his savings, made the decision, and bought one.
Why the Hydrofix
John did not shop across a field of hydrogen machines. "I honestly didn't know that there was any other machines on the market," he admitted. But when he did look around, he found that most of what was out there did not seem to be built to the same standard. He looked at ratings and at what other owners said. "It was universally recommended that it was a high-quality machine... I didn't see any negative feedback about it," he said. Other machines did have negative feedback, so he narrowed it down from there.
He is honest about the limits of that method. "I really had no other way of determining whether it was a good machine or not, but it turned out it was."
Some of what he sensed as quality has a concrete basis. The Lourdes Hydrofix is hand-built in Japan and uses separate-chamber electrolysis, so the water you drink never directly touches the electrodes. The electrodes themselves are solid titanium-platinum rather than plated. Every unit is individually tested and ships with its own Certificate of Authenticity, and the same device handles both drinking water and inhalation. John has kept to the drinking side, and for a machine that has run daily for years, that alone has been plenty.
Plugged in, filled up, ready to go
Setup was hardly worth the word. There was nothing to assemble. "I just plugged it in, basically, and put some water in the filter... And then put water in the pitcher and turned it on," he said. That was all there was to it. "It comes... ready to go."
The routine that grew from there is simple. First glass on waking. Several more glasses across the day, some with other products he mixes into the water. "I probably drink about, I don't know, maybe two or three pitchers of water a day," he said.
And the routine includes one more household member. "I give it to my dog, Benji. He has a little water dish, and I pour it in there for him too."
After four or five years of daily use, the display on his unit has started to act up a little, and he plans to contact the company about it. He mentions it the same matter-of-fact way he mentions everything else, and in the same breath: "I think the product is amazing. It has worked every day."
Like a glass of water
John is careful not to overstate things, and he does not claim the Hydrofix changed his life overnight. When asked about the first time he noticed something different, he was honest. "It wasn't like flipping a switch and noticing a big difference," he said. If anything, it was gradual. He has felt pretty good his whole life, and since he got the machine, that has continued. "Here I am, 82 years old, and I still feel I can get around fine," he said.
Asked whether he ever had a moment of thinking, this is really making a difference, he said no, not exactly. "I just feel like I was glad that I got it." The machine has become ordinary in the best sense. "It's like drinking a glass of water," he said. "Something natural and... part of life."
Would he do it again? "It's a good concept and easy to use. I would do it again, sure." He feels "it's well worth the money."
His advice to anyone standing where he once stood is gentle. He would tell them to "study the subject, find out for themself what it's all about." He knows a friend's recommendation only goes so far. "I can recommend it as a friend, but I'm not an authority," he said. "Something regarding your health, you should listen to people that have education in this subject." Then, with characteristic understatement: "Once they do that, they probably will sell themselves on buying a Hydrofix."
For his part, the verdict after four or five years is short. "I highly endorse the product."
