The Attorney Who Did His Homework: Gerard's First Months with the Lourdes Hydrofix

Customer story quote card: Gerard S., Lourdes Hydrofix owner

A honeymoon conversation he never expected

Gerard S. is 70, a practicing attorney in New York State, and a man who describes himself as an optimist. He is also careful by trade. So it is a little funny that hydrogen water did not enter his life through research. It entered on vacation.

In February 2026, he and his husband were on their honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii. People they met there were using hydrogen water and a hydrogen machine, and the conversation stayed with him after he flew home.

"I had never heard of hydrogen water," he said.

For a lot of people, that would be the end of it. For Gerard, it was where the homework started. He already takes his wellness seriously. He eats plant-based, and he thinks about how he wants to feel in the years ahead. "I also try to take care of myself," he said. "I'm trying to do what I can to keep healthy." Adding one more simple habit, at 70, struck him as a reasonable thing to do for his long-term wellness.

An attorney does his homework

Back in New York, Gerard did what he does for a living: he looked at the evidence. He read what he could find on the studies behind molecular hydrogen, and he spent time on YouTube listening to owners talk about the machines they used and why.

"I did some studies. I was on YouTube... it looked to me like the better Japanese machine was the Holy Hydrogen machine," he said.

That machine is the Lourdes Hydrofix Premium Edition, hand-built in Japan, with separate-chamber electrolysis and solid titanium-platinum electrodes. Holy Hydrogen lays out the technical reasoning behind those choices on its science page. For Gerard, though, the comparison came down to something plainer.

"This one pulled ahead pretty quickly," he said. Two things separated it from the machine he had first seen in Hawaii. One was cost. The other was a capability the other machine did not have at all.

"I just like the inhalation feature, which the other machine did not offer," he said. One device for both drinking and inhalation settled the question. "I considered the cost, I considered the additional inhalation feature, and I was sold on your machine."

What almost stopped him

Ask Gerard what nearly kept him from buying and he does not dress it up. "Perhaps the cost, perhaps the unknown," he said.

A family member had done research of his own and raised doubts. Gerard did not wave them off. He wanted to know exactly what he was buying, and he was clear-eyed about the wellness world's habit of overpromising.

"I know there are no miracle cures, no fountain of youth. So I guess there's always, even with an optimistic outlook as I have, there's some doubts that might have entered into my mind that, was this a good investment or not?"

That is a fair thing to want from a high-ticket purchase made online. Every Lourdes Hydrofix is individually tested and ships with its own Certificate of Authenticity, and the independent lab results are posted on the certifications page for anyone who, like Gerard, prefers to check for themselves.

In the end, he decided the doubts were worth working through rather than a reason to walk away.

"There are scams out there, and I didn't want to think that this was one of them. But I obviously gave it every possibility, and I had an open mind, and I figured, what the heck?"

"I'm an optimistic person. I'm willing to listen," he said. "What the heck? What do I have to lose?... I will try it."

Setup day

The machine arrived in May 2026. For a first-time owner, unboxing is often the moment the doubts either fade or come back. Gerard's faded.

"It was easy to assemble the machine. It wasn't difficult at all. I did watch a setup video on YouTube, and that certainly made it easier," he said.

The first few uses took a little getting used to, and then they did not. "Practice makes perfect, so I learned fairly quickly how to use the machine," he said.

The routine, a few months in

Since May, the Lourdes Hydrofix has been part of the household's day. Gerard uses it, in his words, "both for drinking purposes, prior to meals, and also for inhalation purposes." His husband has used it alongside him from the start.

It goes to the office with him, too. He fills a travel container with water from the machine to take to work, and it goes with him when he is away from home.

Part of the appeal, for someone who already eats with intention, is how little the habit asks of him. "I'm very comfortable doing something so simple as eating certain things and avoiding certain things, and drinking water or inhaling hydrogen water is certainly as simple as it gets, too."

He is also honest about where things stand. He is a few months in, and he will not tell you more than he knows.

"I can't really tell you at this time whether I benefited," he said. "The jury is still out."

What he tells the next careful researcher

Gerard meets a lot of people in his law practice, and from time to time hydrogen comes up. When it does, he tells them what he told us: how he found it, how he checked it out, and where he stands today. "It makes you feel good that you were able to bring your message to other people," he said.

His advice for someone standing where he stood last February is the same advice he followed. Read the studies. Listen to owners talking about it online. Watch a setup video. Then decide for yourself.

For a careful attorney who had never heard of hydrogen water a year ago, that is a fitting place to leave it: a research-first decision, an easy setup, and a routine he has kept since May. We will check back in with him as the months go on. In the meantime, read more customer stories from owners who did their own homework.
